SOCAL PREMIER IS BUILT ON A FOUNDATION TO GROW SUCCESSFULLY
SoCal Premier has gone through many structural changes over the years to adapt and grow since it was founded by Raul Briones in 1976.
1976 — Early 1980's
Began as a Sunday men’s adult league with a group of teams in Garden Grove, CA, founded by Raul Briones. It was operating under the name, “Coast Soccer League – Seniors” (no affiliation with CSL Youth).
1980's — 1990's
CSL – Seniors joined the now defunct California Soccer Association-South. Fritz Jansen joined Raul and ran operations out of the Old World Bavarian Bakery & Restaurant in Huntington Beach, CA.
2000 — 2008
The league added several divisions and created the Premier division, taking on several of the state’s top teams from the defunct Pacific Soccer League. Brett Wood stepped in as President.
2009
Official name changes to SoCal Premier and established a 501c7 non-profit. First adult league to affiliate with CalSouth. Brett Wood takes on new role as VP Adults for Cal South. Matt Morse takes the reigns as President.
2013
2016
Formed a 501c3 non-profit and launched our first youth division under CalSouth for recreational intercity teams in Orange County.
2018
SoCal Premier dissolves the 501c3, reforming under an LLC, and moves its affiliation and sanctioning under US Club Soccer. SoCal Premier merges with West Coast Adult Soccer League (WCASL).
2019
SoCal Premier partners with USSDA clubs to form the U11-12 NPL West Boys division.
